Ask the Editor:

Professor Arash Zamyadi, Editor of Water Quality Research Journal

Why is Water Quality Research Journal (WQRJ) important to the field?

It provides a pool of novel information on a variety of topics including: “climate change and emerging contaminants in aquatic ecosystems”, “aquatic ecology”, “water treatment and reuse technologies and strategies”, “regulations, economics, strategies and policies related to water quality”, “social science issues in relation to water quality”, "water quality in remote areas and cold climates”.

What ongoing/upcoming trend or development do you think will be a game changer for the field?

It is exciting to see new emerging research focusing on the water-food-energy nexus in the context of climate change.

How do you think the new international focus of the journal (formerly known as the Water Quality Research Journal of Canada) will help develop the outreach?

The new, more international scope of the journal is expanding the pool of researchers submitting to the journal and also the readership of the published articles, giving it more global significance.

We continue to strive to promote published papers on social media, enhancing authors’ Altmetrics citation index and increase citation and visibility – make sure to follow our hashtag, #SubmitToWQRJ. We are also providing more opportunity to publish papers Open Access, increasing the reach and accessibility of papers.
